Happy Birthday North Ridge!

I can’t wait to see you all this weekend as we celebrate 4 years of North Ridge Church by baptizing those who have recently asked Jesus to lead their lives. It’s all about Jesus! Here are a few things on my mind as we move into the last quarter of 2011:

Help us make room for others – We have recently added 50 more seats to our worship space and the 10:30 am service is still full. I am asking those of you who can to consider coming to the 9 am service to free up a space at 10:30 am. Especially this weekend. The baptisms will be happening live at the 10:30 am service, but we will be showing the testimony videos of each person baptized during the 9 am service. I know this is a sacrifice for you, but I also know you are as excited as I am about reaching more people.

The New Normal - It’s pretty normal to want life to roll along smoothly. And in those seasons when it doesn’t, we might wonder, “Why can’t things just be normal?” But at North Ridge we believe God wants more for us than normal—you might say he has Weird things in mind for us. This week we start a new series that compares the Normal life we all think we want with the life that Jesus is actually calling us to live. Pursuing the Weird life God is calling us to is anything but normal. And completely worth it!

Dominican Republic- October 15-23 we are leading a mission trip to see our friends in Barahona, Dominican Republic. This year we will be partnering with The Least of These Ministries to continue work on a much-needed warehouse to store larger quantities of beans and rice. We are also partnering with North Ridger Charlie Hayes and his company Advanced Treatment Technologies to install a water treatment system for the entire village. Lots of awesome stuff! Please pray for your team as we prepare to go. Also we have one seat remaining if you are interested in going with us.

Next – if you have been hanging around North Ridge for a while and you are wondering what’s next, then join us for NEXT, a brief 15-minute overview of our mission, strategy, and environments to help you determine your best next step. The next NEXT will be held immediately following the 10:30 am service on Sunday, October 9.

I look forward to year 5 with you!

Dean
